Cynthia Villar Calls Filipino Nurse as "Room Nurse"
From the election special program of GMA 7, Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Villar was asked by Winnie Munsod about her role as the Chairman of Committee on Education. Apparently in 2005-2006, there was a controversy that the Commission on Higher Education or CHED wants to close down the 23 nursing schools because of poor quality education and no one seems to pass the PRC board exam for nursing. The committee which was led by Villar favored the owners of the 23 institutions and was able to let it operate. Because of that, the members of the Technical Nursing Committee resigned including Chairman dela Rosa.

Winnie Munsod asked, "Can you reconcile the seeming disconnect between your desire to help the poor and your siding towards the owners of the educational institutions, which the Technical Nursing Committee and CHED wants to be closed?"

Watch closely as Villar called the Filipino nurses as "Room Nurse" and blatantly disrespects the nursing profession.

My youngest sister is a registered nurse and I have friends who are also registered nurses. I know how hard it is that before you become a registered nurse, you have to sweat tears in blood not just in studying but also in late hours of training. I'm just wondering if she can handle the rigorous studying and training our nurses had.

To the Filipinos in the Philippines and in abroad, do not vote for this elitist woman!

There are some people who are tactless and inconsiderate. I have numerous friends who are nurses and I do know how hard they studied to be able to pass the board exam. Salute to all our nurses!

thats the problem with our politicians, if you have money you can just go and get a position in our government but you don't have the heart and the knowledge to perform your duties,

Feeling ko mali lang ang dating ng message niya. Pero maski ano pa man, lumabas lang na wala siyang alam.

I'm sure right now she 's wishing she didn't even answered that question. I'm not voting for her.

My first reaction hearing her say that was "Well, that is so sad". I think she meant that pag sa ibang bansa yong mga nurse they will only become caregivers then sa nursing home or Licensed Practitioner? Why not making it better to where nurses in the Philippines can also be as competitive as other nurses in the world and can actually pass the exams. What she said was a mistake.

I have two cousins who are nurses and board passers and I understand how hard they've been working to graduate and to pass the exams. That really hurts when she said it that way.
