Chicken Rice Chosen
In a poll conducted by Tastes of Yesteryear Campaign, students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University were asked which local food best represent Singapore.

It was a landslide win by the famous chicken rice, which garnered 35% of votes. Other local Singapore food that made it to the list are the following:

1) Chicken rice - 35%
2) Chilli crab - 15%
3) Rojak - 8%
4) Char kway teow - 5%
5) Durian - 2%
6) Hokkien mee - 2%

Chicken rice is also available in other countries like Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines but in Singapore aside from the usual steamed chicken type, you can also order the roasted version, which is also available with char siew pork.

The campaign which was spearheaded by four NTU students wants people to appreciate Singapore food heritage. In a statement by the team leader of the campaign, Clement Cher said, "Chicken rice has a multi-cultural appeal in our island state."

So which local food do you think best represent Singapore?
