It all started in Sydney way back 2007 when million of residents switched off their non-essential lighting. The next year, some countries followed in this awareness towards climate change. A total of 135 countries as of 2011 has participated in this event.

Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines are some of the countries that participated. Yesterday, it was announced by Earth Hour that it will be moving its global headquarters to Singapore. According to reports, Singapore is an ideal hub for them since major business hubs are in Singapore making it more easier to tap to these companies.

Earth Hour happens every last Saturday of March from 8:30-9:30 PM.
