Last Saturday, the first ever Marina21K took place. I was one of the late registrants and I was a bit hesistant to register since it is their first event. The registration fee for Marina21K is $58 and it is one of the highest registration fee. And I must say that they overcharged for the many failures of the running event.
Let me start with the race pack. Compared to the other race that I have joined, the only thing that they have provided in the race pack is the bib. And the others are just sponsors brochures and vouchers that aren't interesting at all. They didn't even include the running singlet.
Transportation to the venue was okay. They have provided a shuttle bus from Mountabatten MRT to the Bay East at the Gardens by the Bay. I didn't wait that much so that was great. Even their last cut off time for the trip was 11 PM, they still have accommodated a lot of runners.

My friend introduced me to this wonderful music video in the 80s by Italian singer Sabrina Salerno. Boys (Summertime Love) was her biggest hit not because of the song itself but because of the music video. It was banned from many countries from an obvious wardrobe malfunction.
The 1987 song was number one from two countries and has reached the number five ranking from 8 countries.
As of press time, the Boys (Summertime Love) music video has reached the 16.9 million views. And I must admit that the song is really catchy!

The half-marathon stretched from Changi Exhibition Centre, Aviation Road Park, Changi Coast Road, Tanah Merah, Safra then back to the Changi Exhibition Centre. This is the most tiring run ever and I find the route a bit boring especially the long route of Changi Coast Road. The only view that you can see are the trees and the runway of Changi Airport. By the way, I'm using my iPhone for the music and the first song to play was Martin Nievera's You Are My Song. Duh!
Anyway, the markers were consistent every kilometer as well as the water stations every two kilometers if I'm not mistaken. It's just a bummer that most of the stations only have water.
When I reached the 16th kilometer mark, I already felt exhausted. My legs were in pain and I had to stop on some occasions to stretch my legs. This was the result of not being prepared and not having enough training. When I reached the 19th kilometer mark, I tried to push myself and just thought that I'm already near the finish line. It just sucks that there were some parts of the 20th kilometer mark that are badly lit. As in pitch black. They should have installed some lighting system there.
When I was near the finish, I can hear already the loud sound system. I love that there were people clapping and cheering before reaching the finish line. The feeling was awesome. I didn't know that there were photos and videos taken at the finish line which I learned after the run. You have to pay of course to get a copy of the photo and the video. It's just funny that my video preview shows that I'm somehow tired and limping. I finish the half-marathon approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes (lol).

Last two month's Sundown Marathon was my first night run ever. It was also my first half-marathon run which was exciting and scary for me. Before the Sundown Marathon, I didn't have much training and it did affect my run big time. The venue of the marathon was at the Changi Exhibition Centre. Kinda secluded place but thankfully the Sundown Marathon organizers provided shuttle buses to the venue from Tanah Merah MRT (not free by the way).
The half-marathon start time was scheduled at 8 PM. I can't recall what time I reached Tanah Merah but the trip to the venue was awful. It was my mistake that I still entered the bus even it was full. I was standing all the way to Changi Exhibition Centre. Darn!
There were road closures at that time and the traffic was heavy near the venue. It's just nice to see the 10 kilometers runners while we were clogged in the traffic. Some really looked very exhausted.

This is one of the interesting food of Thailand. And I must say that I enjoy having it sometimes. The other week, I was able to cook it thanks to the ready mix Green Curry available in Fair Price.
Here are the ingredients and the steps to cook Thai Green Curry Chicken:
1. Chicken parts
2. Coconut milk
3. Long beans cut into an inch
4. Potatoes cut into cubes
5. Fish sauce
Steps:
1. Heat up the pan and mix the green curry paste with the coconut milk.
2. Add in the chicken when the green curry paste and coconut milk mixture is boiling.

Singapore's National Day is around the corner and they were already in the stage of rehearsing the parade. Controversies during the rehearsal ignited when the "Fun Pack Song" was released in YouTube. The said song was ripped off from Lady Gaga's hit song "Bad Romance." The lyrics were changed to cater to what's inside the fun pack that would be given during the National Day Parade.
Anyway, if you're curious of the song. Here it is!

Hi guys! I'm officially back in blogging. After the Sundown Marathon and my Bali trip, I felt lazy to keep you updated. I must admit that it's less stressful for me. Now, I'm thinking of updating my blog on a weekly basis.
So to update you guys, here's what's going on with me for a couple of months. Sundown Marathon happened and it was a great experience. Painful and excruciating when I reached the 18 kilometer mark and I opted to walk on some time. Maybe I'll make a separate post about that experience.
Still with running, the half-marathon run has inspired me to continue running with that distance. In the upcoming months, I have signed up to run in Marina21K, Adidas King of the Road, Singapore Half Marathon and lastly the coveted Standard Chartered Marathon. I'm still thinking whether I will run on this year's Yellow Ribbon Prison Run. If you've been following my blog, you know that Yellow Ribbon Prison Run was my official first run.
