Lenten Lunch at [F.I.S.H.]

This was my lunch during Good Friday. A very yummy White Fish at [F.I.S.H.]. It is the same owner of Fish & Co. Anyway, if you order any main dish, you can avail the salad bar for free. You can choose a variety of salad, pasta and much loved Nacho with salsa. Yummy! I hope everyone had a memorable lenten season. Don't forget to attend the Easter Sunday mass!

Run 350 Experience

Run 350 Experience
Sunday morning, I finally experienced Run 350. This is the second year of Run 350 in which they promote in helping Mother Earth. The run is a stretch of 10 kilometers from the Promontory to Marina Bay Sands, Clifford Street then back to the Promontory.

It was a sunny morning and I have to say that it was my hottest run yet. Anyway, I arrived Raffles MRT around 7 in the morning. Since, I haven't heard anything from my three friends, I headed to the Promontory to deposit my bag. It's just nice to see a lot of people wearing Orange, which is the official color of Run 350. I wore my blue Adidas singlet since I find Run 350's singlet ugly.

The baggage section was organized and I'm so thankful that the field wasn't muddy. I queued to my designated counter then checked in my bag. One of my friend sent me a message asking where I was. Anyway, he was late and my two other friends stood me up. I forgot to bring my iPhone arm band so I opted to leave my phone in my bag. While I was doing my stretching, I realized that I forgot my Nike+ sensor in my bag. I went bag to the baggage counter and asked for my bag. I was apologetic to the lady and she told me that it was fine.

The starting point was very crowded. They segregated ladies from men. I'm just not certain whether both sexes ran at the same time. From the Promontory, the runners headed to Marina Bay Sands. After that location, I noticed that there were no road closures but only one fourth of the street was assigned for Run 350. It looked like Manila traffic literally after the Arts Museum.

Anyway, if I can recall there were designated water stations every 2 kilometers and distance marker every kilometer. For this run, I have decided to just drink at 4 kilometers. It is somehow a distraction and a disaster for momentum.

I finished the run with my Nike+ time of 1 hour 9 minutes. There were no goodie bags and they were wise to give the finisher medal right after finish line. So to those that planned not to run and just to get the goodie bag, you're plan was a big mistake.

At the Promontory, there were a lot of activities. There were free massage with a very long queue, banana section, water and 100 plus section, face painting section and even a bull for kids to ride ala Rodeo.

I didn't stay that long. After changing my shirt, I headed home tired and hungry. Next run, Sundown Marathon!

Cheesy Spaghetti ala Makoy Recipe

Cheesy Spaghetti ala Makoy Recipe
In preparation for Run 350, I went carbo overload with my dinner yesterday. I cooked my own version of spaghetti which is very cheesy. To those who are interested, here are the ingredients and the steps to my yummy Cheesy Spaghetti.

Cheesy Spaghetti ala Makoy ingredients:
1. 250g Spaghetti noodles
2. 1 big can of Tomato sauce
3. Cheddar cheese
4. Meat balls
5. hotdogs
6. mushrooms
7. chopped onion
8. chopped garlic
9. water
10. cooking oil
11. salt and pepper

Cheesy Spaghetti ala Makoy Steps:
1. On a big casserole, fill it up with water then put into a boil.
2. Once it is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt and cooking oil.
3. Pour in the spaghetti noodles then mix occasionally.
4. After 15 minutes, check on the noodles if it is already cooked. You can only tell once you bite on it. Drain the noodles with running cold water. Set in a separate bowl and mix a little cooking oil on it.
5. Now for the sauce, sautee the garlic and onion. Once the onion is translucent, add the meat balls.
6. Once the meat balls turn pale, add one can of tomato sauce then mix.
7. Add in the hotdogs, drained mushrooms and 1/4 block of the cheddar cheese to the sauce.
8. Add some salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer a sweeter version, you can add some sugar and banana ketchup.

Best served with hot garlic bread and some grated cheese on top. This recipe is good for 5 to 6 servings. Enjoy!

Short Vacation in The Philippines Part 2

Short Vacation in The Philippines Part 2
My mom and I slept at my sister's room since they have recently installed an air con and my room was very humid. My mom and I were talking then I fell asleep. That morning, I woke up with the breakfast on the table. I miss that a lot! I had an appointment with my dentist at 11 in the morning and my mom tagged along with me since she wants to do her filling. Before that, my mom called our dentist and confirmed my appointment. According to her, we can drop by after 40 minutes since she wasn't finished yet with her client.

That morning by the way, I finally gave the talking doll to my beautiful niece, Sam. I got it from Changi Airport and I'm happy that she liked it. Now back to my dentist visit, we got there after 40 minutes and she wasn't done yet. My mom waited for more than 30 minutes before my turn. The good news was my dental health was in good shape, my gums were healthy and I have no cavities! Wohoo! When it was my mom's turn, I just waited for her to finish. It's just awful to see that she was bleeding heavily during the cleaning. She have this sensitive gums that the dentist has to stop and just continue the next week. After the dentist, we had our lunch at home. It was Sinigang na Hipon and Bistek Tagalog. It wasn't yummy though. Our house helper needs more training in the kitchen.

Since I only have the weekend, I have no time to just stay in house. After resting and playing with my niece, I went to SM Sucat and bought my grocery items. It's shocking that the prices are high. Now with my clothing shopping, I went to SM Mall of Asia and bought a long sleeves and jeans.

2011 Run 350 Singapore Race Pack

2011 Run 350 Singapore Race PackFive more days to go and I'll be running again. This time, 10 kilometers for Run 350. Anyway, while I was on my vacation in the Philippines, the race pack collection took place. Thanks to my co-runner friend Karla claimed my race pack.

The race pack was very orange and the running singlet was so fugly. It has the weirdest collar and it was poorly made. On the other hand, the shoe bag wasn't that bag and I am able to use it in the gym already. I also like the running tribelt which I can use in this run and my future runs.

After this run, I'll be facing my toughest run yet. Night run for a total of 21 kilometers. Hopefully, I can finish it with flying colors. The sad thing is that I haven't been doing much of my half-marathon training.

See you runners this Sunday at the Promenade for the Run 350!

Singaporean Man in Army Skirt

Singaporean Man in Army Skirt
Aside from the one-hour MRT trouble last Thursday, the new talked of the town is the photo posted in STOMP. In the photo, a Singaporean man in his mid-forties was spotted in Parkway Parade Shopping Centre wearing a camouflage skirt.

The skirt according to the post looked professionally made and in the style of a Scotsman's kilt. The skirt also have three of its original-style pockets, one on the side and two in front. Comments made in the website were mixed. Some said they were disappointed and some just laughed at it.

What do you think? Are Singaporean men turning soft or just being fashion forward?

Short Vacation in The Philippines

Short Vacation in The Philippines
Last Friday, I finally went home for a short vacation. As always, Thursday was a busy day for me but I managed to escape work, had my dinner at Teppanyaki then went home. There is an on-going renovation in our home and it was a bummer that when I arrived home the bathroom that was already finished was locked. I was all sweaty and I needed a shower. I sent a message to the owner and I was told that they were having dinner. When they returned home, I rushed to take a bath.

My flight was exactly 12:15 A.M. and I left home by 9 P.M. I reached the airport around 10 P.M. and I was rushing to do some last minute shopping. I managed to buy a shirt for our house helper, two identical talking dolls for my two nieces and a snack from Dunkin Donuts. After that, I rushed to the gate and took my time to eat first my snack since there was a long queue.

I arrived Manila on time and was very excited to see my mom, my sister and my niece. I immediately booked a cab in the airport and was at home in 15 minutes. It's just awful that the cab driver cheated on me and asked for 400 pesos. Anyone knows where I can report that incident?

Anyway, I didn't ask my family to fetch me in the airport since it's late and just close to my home. It's just so eerie that when I was calling my mom in our living room's window, I saw a shadow walking from our kitchen to the living room. I thought it was my mom so I kept on calling and transferred on the other window. I realized that there was no one there and it was my dad trying to say hi to me. I went on calling on my sister's room and my mom finally opened the door for me. I confirmed to her that no one is in the living room.
