Northeast Trail Run 2011 Experience
Last Sunday, I finally experienced my first trail run in Tampines. Thanks by the way to NTUC Sports for this free run. I was able to save S$18! Anyway, according to NTUC Sports website they only say 8 kilometers straight run and jungle trail. I really thought that we would be running in the road and there would be just a small portion of the jungle trail. I wore my Nike running shoes which is not intended for a trail run.

The starting point of the run was at the Tampines Bike Park. There were only few participants for the men's category and the run commenced at exactly 7:30 AM. Before the run, I did my stretching and fixed my iPhone on my left arm with my waterproof earphones. If you have been to the Tampines Bike Park, the starting point was just the opposite of its entrance. I was so dismayed that I'm wearing the wrong shoes and I was on the part it was all muddy that I had to slow down and sometimes just walk.

The trail run spanned for a total of 8 kilometers, which was two rounds of 4 kilometers of the same track. I finished the 8 kilometers in 54:30 minutes with a pace of 06'09" based from my Nike+ gadget. At the finish line, I was given my finisher medal which I am very proud of. My first ever running medal, wohoo!

After that, I went to the goodie bag area and I was so disappointed that it was still closed. This was the first time that I had to wait for my goodie bag. I asked one of the officials and he told me that they would open by 9 AM. After five minutes, I was approached by one of the runners and asked me about the goodie bag. I told him the opening time and by 8:45 AM he approached one of the ladies in the goodie bag and got us our goodie bags. It's just absurd that runners who are tired had to wait.

This trail run was indeed one of my greatest run. I don't know though if I would run for a second time.
