First Bangkok Trip - Day 1 Part 3

First Bangkok Trip - Day 1 Part 3 Chinatown
After the one hour massage at the spa, we hailed a taxi to Chinatown where we searched for a place to have dinner. It was very hard to communicate with the Thais because most of them are not that great with English. Anyway, we asked our cab driver for the best Thai food in Chinatown but he never understood us. We kept walking at the side walk until we reached this street where lots of people flocked.

Since it is a given, we went there to have our dinner. I just can't recall of the name of the restaurant since it is in Thai alphabets. What's so amazing with this restaurant is that they use ropes to pass the orders on the kitchen on the top floor. By the way, it is a Chinese restaurant that does lots of seafood grilling. We ordered the following food: Tom Yum Seafood, Fried Rice, grilled green mussel, filled crab, grilled prawns and some vegetables (and extra rice).

The food was great and it was so affordable! On my next visit in Bangkok, I'll definitely go back there.

After our dinner, we headed to ride the boat at the Chao Praya River. We asked the traffic police for directions but we were informed that it was already closed. We reached the hotel at exactly 11 P.M. and hours later I heard my friend making sounds. She was chilling and I opted to give up my comforter and lower down the air conditioner.

Day 2 on my next post...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I am wishing everyone a happy Christmas and a blessed new year!  I would like to take this chance to thank all of you for the friendship, support and love.  2010 was an awful year for me especially with my father's passing.  I am still going to be optimistic for the next year and hoping that whatever decision I'll have in my career will be for the best.

To all my readers and friends, thank you once again!

Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel Review

Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel Review
It has been a month ago that I visited Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. I actually accompanied my friend who attended the graduation rights of Monash University. Anyway, we stayed at Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel which is just a throw stone away from the theme park. Sunway Lagoon Resort Theme Park including the mall beside it and the Sunway hotels are all owned by Sunway.

I still can remember my horrific experience from a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Well this time I can say that it was just okay. When we checked in, we experienced the pain of waiting. The receptionist are basically lousy. There were like five of them and there were lots of customers queuing. We had to call their attention to check us in.

Anyway, the room was clean and the aircon was functioning well. It's just sad that they don't provide toiletries. Thankfully, I brought my own. And before I forget, their towels aren't as awful as the hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Hoping to post some pictures at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Theme Park very soon.

New Philippine Peso Bills

Presenting the new Philippine peso bills that will be released before the new year. New coins on the other hand will be released in the beginning of 2012. To those that worries a lot, you can still use your old paper money for three years or better yet give it to me. LOL.

To be honest, it looks very unattractive to me. The color is unappealing. So what do you think of the new design?

Christmas Wish List

Christmas Wish List
Two more weeks to go and it's Christmas time. I just find it very hard and lonely to spend another Christmas here in Singapore. I am now thinking of spending Christmas next year with my family. Anyway since Christmas is near, I'd better list down my wish list for the generous Santa's out there. (ahem!)

1. iPod Shuffle. Since I gave my Ipod Nano to my sister, I need a media player that I can use during my long runs. With that, I also need a waterproof earphones.

2. Hair Straightening Iron. I have been planning to get this straightening iron cause my hair is really bothering me. It's either very wavy or unruly. It's either that or I'll get a new haircut.

3. gym gloves, gym bag and swimming trunks. I think it's about time that I get these new stuffs. My swimming trunks is a bit small for me now and my back pack that I've been using has turned foggy white now.

4. round trip ticket to Hong Kong, Taipei or Bali. These are the places that I'm targeting to go next year. I would definitely would want to visit Hong Kong again. Hopefully in South Korea if it's safe to travel there.

5. new laptop. My current Acer laptop has been showing me signs of termination and a new laptop will be much appreciated.

6. not so high-tech phone for my PH roaming number. On my last visit in the Philippines, I bought a new sim card that I've planned to use in a new phone. Well until now I haven't bought a replacement.

7. new iPhone 3GS case.

8. mini electric fan for my office desk.

and so much more...

Family Guy Favorite Characters

Family Guy Favorite CharactersYesterday, while I was browsing for TV series to download, I saw a familiar a name "Mila Kunis" in the list and she was the guest to Jimmy Kimmel Live. I googled her name and the reason why she is so familiar is because she is one of the voice cast of Family Guy. To those who don't know Mila plays the character of "Meg." Shockingly, she's so pretty and very far distant to the cartoon character she's voice overing.

Anyway, I've researched the main characters and here are the people behind their voices:

Seth MacFarlane (Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Tom Tucker, Carter Pewterschmidt, others)

Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin, Loretta Brown, Barbara Pewterschmidt, Tricia Takanawa, others)

Seth Green (Chris Griffin, Neil Goldman, others)

Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin)

Mike Henry (Cleveland Brown, Herbert, Greased Up Deaf Guy, Bruce the performance artist, others)

Here is the video of one of their recording session. Enjoy!

So who's you're favorite character? Mine is Stewie and Brian!

First Bangkok Trip - Day 1 Part 2

First Bangkok Trip - Day 1 Part 2 Grand PalaceNow my Day 1 story continues. After we have checked in Fortville Guesthouse, we finally headed to the Grand Palace. The Grand Palace by the way is the official residence of the Kings of Thailand. It houses elaborate buildings such as the Wat Phra Kaew, Dusit Phra and Chakri Mahaprasad Hall. All I can say is, these structures are magnificent. I'm just not sure if they made of gold or just gold platted.

It's just annoying that while I was taking photos in the entrance of the Grand Palace, I saw that my camera battery indicator was going off in minutes. Thank God, I have my iPhone with me. It's just hard to take photos especially with wide range. Back to the Grand Palace, my friend and I was rushing to get in and we were surprised to see our former officemate there with his friends. My friend and I were both surprised that he just nod his head when he saw us. My friend had to call his name and he gave again the same response.

Anyway, we covered the whole Grand Palace for one hour then we headed to Wat Pho.  While walking to Wat Pho we felt our hunger so we tried this street food that looked like kikiam. After a long walk to Wat Pho, we sat somewhere and we were approached by a Bangkok local. He asked us where are we heading and we tried to ignore him. We were skeptical that he's going to lure us somewhere. Anyway, we told him that we're going to Wat Pho. He informed us that it was the "monk day" and Wat Pho was closed. He then offered places we can visit and he even talked to the Tuk Tuk driver to take us there. It was very smooth transaction with the Tuk Tuk driver if a local talks to them.

The Tuk Tuk driver drove us to the jewelry store followed by the giant standing buddha then the silk store. I bought one scarf lol! Our last destination was the massage place. We're so happy with the Tuk Tuk driver that we even gave tip. The problem was there was only one massage place. The local guy that told us that the whole street will be flocked with massage units aren't there. So we have thought that we have been cheated. We inquired to the only massage place and we found it very expensive. We have decided to find a different place. We were surprised that the Tuk Tuk driver was still there outside waiting for us. We end up walking while we find for that street. After talking to some locals, we have decided to take a cab and instruct the driver to go to that certain street. When we reached the spa, we were shocked that the massage place that we rejected was actually more cheaper.

To be continued...
