Today, I saw the print advertisement of the Distance Fare scheme here in Singapore. I am very alarmed that I will be paying more since I stay far from work. I now have to research on how much will be the difference or I'll be needing to look for a new place to stay. This new scheme by the way will take effect on July 3, 2010.
Anyway, here is the video to learn more about the distance fare:

This is the continuation of my Singapore Budget Terminal and Cebu Pacific Experience. After I got my luggage, I finally headed to see my sister. I was expecting to see my niece with her but it was only her. I was absolutely famished so after I changed my Singaporean dollars to Peso, we headed to the food center of NAIA Terminal 3. Back to the forex, would you believe that it took a while before I got my money? They are taking notes of all serial numbers.Anyway, we had our late lunch at Yellow Cab. Aside from the pasta, two slices of pizza, we ordered for a take-out pizza. The security guard of RCBC told us to hail a cab on the second floor. He was right that it was cheaper. It was very traffic though from the airport to our place. There's still no difference in Paranaque and I was surprised that it wasn't that hot as I have expected.
When we reached home, I finally saw my family and my adorable niece, Sam. Again, she was aloof to me. I gave her new doll and cookies. It was very heart warming to hear from my niece to be called "Tito" (uncle) with her frail voice. After an hour, I asked them to fix themselves then we headed to SM. At SM Sucat, we shopped for my mom and dad's clothes, shopped for my groceries then had our dinner at Jollibee.

In my one week vacation in the Philippines, I was able to do some shopping. I shopped for canned goods, new long sleeves which I am excited to wear on Monday and lastly the portable water purifier. Before I left left for a vacation, I was canvassing here in Singapore the prices of the portable water purifier. It costs from 39 SGD to 69 SGD.
In the Philippines, I was able to see the same brand which is sold in Singapore. Sadly, the Brita brand is out of stock in Ace hardware. Though they sell a local brand which looks like a small version of a pail. Looks fugly though.
When I went to the Makati area , I was able to buy the Brita brand in SM Makati. I was very happy that it only costs 700 PHP, almost half of the price in Singapore. The portable water purifier comes already with one filter which will last for 3 to 4 months. I also bought an extra filter so all in all, I paid around 1,000 PHP. Not bad, right?
So what's up with my water purifier fetish? Well, I was doing a research weeks ago about water and if it affects the skin and the hair. As you all know, I am worried of my thinning hair. I learned that too much chlorine in the water can cause hair loss and also dries up our skin.
Back to my portable water purifier, aside from chlorine, it also removes residues and improves the smell of the water. The purifier water tastes better now and looks very clear. Now, should I bathe with my purified water? Har har. Continue reading this article...

Last Good Friday when we were looking for a place to eat, we saw the Sistic Ticket stall. We checked out the available brochures and saw Chicago The Musical as well as the Tempest. We were interested to watch Chicago and before I left for a vacation in the Philippines, I bought our tickets.
Tomorrow evening, finally my friends and I will watch Chicago The Musical at the Esplanade Theatre. Oh snap, I just realized that I should have done my ironing tonight. I don't have the time tomorrow to do all two weeks worth of clothing.
Anyway, Chicago The Musical is actually based from the 1926 play of the same name. I really thought Chicago the film came first. According to Wikipedia, the musical is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the "celebrity criminal".

Last Wednesday, I went home to spend my one week in the Philippines. As I have mentioned in my previous post, it would be my first time to ride Cebu Pacific. It was my first time as well to be in NAIA Terminal 3, the controversial terminal. My flight last Wednesday was 10 A.M. and I was in Changi Airport's Budget Terminal past 8 A.M. I took the direct bus from Yishun to the Airport. It was scary but I was confident that I was on time when we reached the Punggol area.
The bus alighted at Terminal 2 and I didn't know that I should take the shuttle to the Budget Terminal. I only knew about it when I asked an officer inside. At the Budget Terminal, I checked in my luggage then I headed to McDonald's. I had hot cakes, hash brown and a big cup of coffee. After my breakfast, I went inside and took a seat at the waiting area. I saw the foot massager which I used at once.
When it was announced that we can now board, I headed to the boarding gate. It's just awful that there's no jet way and I need to climb the stairs to ride the plane. Anyway, Cebu Pacific has the same aircraft with JetStar and Tiger Airways. When I was on my seat, I was praying that the other two seats would be vacant. Sadly, seat C was occupied. She was nice though to lend her pen.
My Cebu Pacific experience was okay. I noticed that there are a lot of Pinay Domestic Helpers on board and they are very noisy. It's just fun to eavesdrops on their conversations. My seatmate is a Pinay DH and according to her she escaped her masters because in three months she hasn't received any pay.
When we reached Terminal 3 of NAIA, I noticed a familiar face. It was the Pinay in Australian accent that was in front of me when I was checking in my luggage. I was being judgmental when I saw her with her foreigner boyfriend. Now back in Terminal 3, she was on the phone with her Australian accent. She honestly looks like a domestic helper but with her accent was awesome.
The continuation of my story tomorrow. Continue reading this article...

This Wednesday, I'll be going home to the Philippines. My vacation will stretch for one week and I am very excited to see my family especially my two nieces. This would be my first time to ride Cebu Pacific and I hope they won't disappoint me or else I would not hesitate to rant about them in this blog.
Anyway, my one week vacation is allotted with my family. Our Avilon Zoo visit was canceled and it is now a trip to Enchanted Kingdom this Friday. I just hope I can cope with the uber hot weather in the Philippines. On Saturday, I'm attending the 1st birthday party of my friend's daughter. I'll be bringing along my two nieces with my mom and my sister.
I'm now thinking of going straight to the spa on Wednesday. After that, I would finish my grocery list.
Two days before I go back to Singapore, I am visiting the dentist for a cleaning. Hopefully, no new cavities.

Last Friday was a public holiday here in Singapore. My three friends and I as planned went on hiking at Mt. Faber for the second time. This time, we did not chose the shortcut. My friends and I met at Anchor's Point at Alexandra which is in front of Ikea. Our call time was 9 A.M. but I ended up waiting almost 10 P.M. Well, I have anticipated them to come late so I was there by 9:30 A.M.
The mall opens at 10 A.M., so I just strolled inside to check where to have our breakfast. When they all arrived, we had our breakfast at this coffee shop. We had toast bread with kaya and butter and the not so hard boiled egg mixed with pepper and soy sauce. That I didn't like. We then headed to Cold Storage where we bought bottled water and junk food for them.
For our warm up, instead of riding the bus we just walked. It was worth it though. Our route now is up hill compared to our the last time that we just went down. My favorite part of the hike was in Henderson Waves where we took fun photos. That was real fun!
After that rest, we have continued our hike to the Harbour Front MRT. It was bizarre though to see a signage at the trail pointing to the MRT. Har har. We were soaked in sweat and I was very exhausted. At Vivo City, we searched for a place to eat steak. We searched and searched until my friend realized that there's a Pepper Lunch Express at the Food Court. When we're already eating, my friend suddenly broke the news that it's Good Friday. We literally screamed for breaking the "no meat" during Good Friday.
After our lunch, I had a quick change and washed my face. I then headed to Mustafa where I bought perfumes and chocolates. It was indeed a memorable Good Friday. Continue reading this article...

Yesterday, I was chatting with my officemate about our work here in Singapore. I dunno what happened but we suddenly talked about my past work in Greenwich. Anyway, just a few background. I worked at Greenwich Pizza when I was a sophomore in College. My branch was in Uniwide Sucat and my contract was only for five months, I think. I think that's the golden rule for the fast food chain. Only five months to get away with the regularization law of six months.
I think I have told this story before in my old personal blog. Well, to cut the story short I was invited by my college friend to work at Greenwich. The work there is by rotation. In my first weeks, I was on the floor doing the tables and serving the food to the customers. I was also tasked to do the back-up station which does the cooking of the lasagna and cutting of ingredients of the pizza. Eventually, I was tasked to just do the toppings for the pizza. It still wonders me why I wasn't tasked to do the cashier. Am I that snobbish or unpleasant to look at?
When I look back, it saddens me that there is really a division between society. I am working for Greenwich for the sheer pleasure of trying it while my co-workers are doing it to survive. I do not regret working though for Greenwich. I have learned the value of money and hard labor.
Anyway, I asked my friend who invited me if she has pictures of us in Greenwich. Unfortunately no pictures on her side. So, calling my co-workers in Greenwich Year 1999-2000 if you have pictures, send me please. Continue reading this article...
