Nin Jiom Cold Remedy
When I returned to work after the death of my father, I suddenly fell ill for the whole week. I had this running nose and my eyes felt very hot. I did not have fever though so I was able to go to work. Thank God, my colleagues did not give me much work at that time.

By the third day I was ill, I was drinking lots of water even hot tea at the office. I was also taking Vitamin C 1000 mg twice a day. Those regimen didn't work. My Singaporean friend who knew about my ordeal salvaged my colds. He gave me this Chinese herbal medicine, which in less than 6 hours made me feel much better. The chinese herbal medicine is called Nin Jiom Cold Remedy and you can buy it in Guardian. It is in powder form in which you need to mix with hot water. Drink it before a meal and I guarantee that it will soothe your cold symptoms.

The next day, I was already feeling better. What's my gauge? Well, I can make fun of my friends and I was back to my grouchy state. I just have to warn you that this chinese herbal medicine doesn't taste so well. It has a strong ginger taste that bothers me a lot. Well, it does work so you just have to endure the taste.

According to the label, it also works with the following:
- Discomfort caused by common colds and flu (when used during the initial stage of your cold
- from the second and third day)
- Headaches
- Chills
- Blocked nose
- Fever (with no perspiration)
- Muscular aches and pains
- Stiff back and shoulders

if it tasted ginger, maybe it's like our local salabat. a juice made from boiled ginger.

I get a flu every 2 years on average, often when traveling overseas. Caught one last xmas overseas. Blocked nose sneezes etc for more than 10 days. Vit C, nasal spray, went through 2 tissue boxes, no avail. I wandered into a TCM shop and rediscovered this nin jiom gem, some listed ingredients are tcm "classics". 2 packs later I begin to feel the effect. 4 packs later, no more nasal+ear congestion and bloated face. Muscle ache gone. Even sweated easily, a good thing. I agree with the blogger it's not yummy - I mix the powder with 1tsp honey (or 1tsp nin jiom's sweet cough syrup pei pa gao), with half cup of warm water. More palatable. Yes there's ginger in it, gives the spicy hotness, but its mainly bitter, like most effective chinese herbs. Good value too, at around SGD$1.00 a pack. Highly recommended.

I'm an avid alternative/Chinese medicine fan. Maybe it's because I hate hospitals. Ironically my husband is a nurse. LOL

If it's a ginger taste I wouldn't mind as I love ginger. Did not know about your father's death, so sorry for your loss.
