Jacque Bermejo To Hell?

Jacque Bermejo To Hell?
Over the weekend, some parts of the Philippines were submerged in raging floods. I was in deep pain watching the videos in Facebook especially the video of a family swept in the river. That was very heartbreaking.

Yesterday, I have finally called my mom to check on them. Thank God, they were all okay. The flood water reached our home above knee deep and our beds were submerged. I am thankful that our neighbors in Paranaque helped my mom and dad. I felt so guilty that I’m not there to help. My youngest sister though was stranded at work and was asleep the whole day yesterday. She was on duty 24 hours in the clinic.

Yesterday also in Facebook, a new personality rose to fame. A Filipina that is currently based in Dubai made a comment about the incident in the Philippines. She remarked in her exact words, “buti n lng am hir in dubai! Maybe so many sinners bak der! So yeah deserving wat hapend!” (I am so lucky, I am in Dubai. Maybe there are many sinners in the Philippines that they deserved the tragedy)

Blood Brothers Musical

Blood Brothers Musical
For the last part of my Broadway segment, I am featuring one of the longest running musical theatre in history, “Blood Brothers.” It started at the West End in 1983 and is still running after twenty years. “Blood Brothers” is the creation of Willy Russell, which is also the man behind the book, lyrics and the music.

Blood Brothers revolve around the story of fraternal twins that were separated at birth. The twins had different background and had different paths. One was a successful Oxbridge-graduated councilor and the other twin is unemployed and imprisoned. Both of them fell in love with the same girl but with tragic consequences.

Blood Brothers have received a lot of awards including the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical and numerous Tony Awards nominations.

Bintan Lagoon Resort Experience

Bintan Lagoon Resort ExperienceYesterday, I have posted my first day in Bintan, Indonesia. Now, I will continue with my second day at the Bintan Lagoon Resort.

Since our first day at Bintan was quite rainy, I made it a point to wake up early on our second day (Sunday).  I have planned to go to the pool and spray some tanning formula.  When I arrived the pool, no one was still there. I have managed to get a nice spot and expose myself to the sun.  Unfortunately, the sun wasn't cooperating so I just went swimming.  I didn't stay that long since we are planning to go to Ole Ole.  At our villa, I took a bath then waited for them to get ready.  We went to the hotel lobby to pay for the shuttle ride then waited patiently for it to arrive.  We left the hotel around 10 A.M. and we were in Ole Ole 20 minutes after, I think.  We have so much time at Ole Ole since the shuttle will fetch us by 3:30 P.M.

Ole Ole by the way is the market place in Bintan.  There are many souvenir shops (expensive by the way), garment shops and also some restaurants.  I have managed to buy two souvenirs for myself that I will post maybe tomorrow.  We had our lunch by the way at Elo Elo.  I had the spicy fried rice with seafood and fried egg on top while they had the famous Indonesian fried chicken.  Damn, I should have tried that one.

First Day At Bintan, Indonesia

First Day At Bintan, Indonesia
(09/19/09) Finally our Bintan Trip is today. I alarmed my mobile around 5:30 A.M. since we planned to leave the house around 6:30 P.M. When I woke up my landlord’s family are already awake and about to take a bath. I had my breakfast first then went to take a bath. I even forgot to shave and brush my teeth since my razor and toothbrush are already in my luggage. Anyway, after taking a bath, I went outside to go to the ATM machine. I only have around 30 SGD and I couldn’t survive Bintan without my pocket money. When I checked my OCBC account, only 100 SGD are left. I have no time to go to a Citibank ATM to withdraw so I used my BPI Savings Account to withdraw. After withdrawing, I have realized that I shouldn’t withdraw on my BPI account since I have a scheduled bills payment for next week.

When I went back to our house Kuya Orly is still in the bathroom so I cannot brush my teeth and shave. I just waited in the kitchen until I saw him leave the bathroom. After my quick shave and brush, we finally left the house. We hailed a taxi and was in Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in less than 30 minutes. By the way, aside from my landlord’s family, we are also going with Ate Juliet’s three friends. When we arrived at the Ferry Terminal, all of them are still not there. We have managed to get our boarding passes and when the two arrived, we went to Kopitiam to have a quick breakfast. I had coffee and French toast. My diet is totally forgotten for this vacation. When the last friend of Ate Juliet arrived, we started munching with our food and in minutes time we went to queue at the Immigration Checkpoint. It was a long queue for the 9:50 A.M. trip.

Love Never Dies

Love Never Dies
For my ninth edition of my Broadway segment, I am featuring Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Love Never Dies."  This musical is the follow-up to Webber's smash hit "Phantom of the Opera."  Love Never Dies is a new musical and will hit Broadway on October 2009.

Love Never Dies is the sequel to the Phantom of the Opera as confirmed by Webber on his blog.  Lyrics will be written by Glenn Slater while the book will be from Webber and Ben Elton.

The plot goes like this as posted in Love Never Dies website, "It is 1907. Ten years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House, Christine Daae accepts an offer to come to America and perform at the fabulous new playground for the rich - Coney Island.
Arriving in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave, Christine soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing."

Bintan Indonesia Vacation Get Away

Bintan Indonesia Vacation Get Away
Two more days to go and we are going to Bintan in Indonesia (sound effects). Finally, I’ll be setting foot to a different country aside from the usual Johor Bahru in Malaysia. My landlord’s family and I will be staying at a villa at the Bintan Lagoon Resort from September 19 to 21, woot!

I have packed some of the things including some clothes and toiletries. I even did my laundry last night so I have lots of clothes to choose from. Anyway, I’ll be going to the grocery later to buy some bottled water and food (junk foods).

I’m so thankful that my landlord invited me to join with them. I will make sure that I’ll enjoy my short vacation. And I will have tons of pictures to post on my blogs. I’m not sure though if I’ll bring my laptop or not. By the way, it’s a holiday this 21st for the Muslim celebration of Hari Raya Puasa.

My Friendster Account Was Hacked

Two days ago, I was so into Facebook that I want to add more friends in my account. Since I have an existing Friendster account, I tried to login to list the names of my friends. It says though that my password is invalid. Since my passwords are auto saved in my laptop, I am certain that I did not change my password. I went to check my Friendster profile and confirmed that my account was definitely hacked. The hacker even changed my status message. Huwat!

Anyway, I clicked the “Forgot your password” link but I did not receive any email for the password reset. It looked like the hacker changed my email address. I finally emailed Friendster Help Desk and was replied hours after. They asked me to scan a valid ID then to attach it to my email. Hours after, they sent a temporary password that worked. However, when I tried to reset my password I encountered problems. It says that my old password was invalid.

I emailed them again and was surprised that the Customer Service was very arrogant to shout on me on her reply.

My Gym Observation

My Gym ObservationThis week marked the first month of my gym work out.  So far, my diet is working and my tummy is a bit smaller now.  My problem now is to gain more muscle especially in the chest.  I keep on looking my body in the mirror every morning to see if there is a difference.  I am honestly a bit disappointed.  I am expecting more since most of my gym mates are all buffed up.

Anyway, I would like to share my observation in the gym that I go to.  It is confirmed that Singaporeans are really health conscious.  There are also a large percentage of Indians that go to the gym.  Not good for me though.  I'm not being a racist but some of them are really irritating.  It is a fact that some smells really bad and if they use an equipment, the stinks stay in the machine.  And there's these two guys that doesn't wipe their sweat after using the equipment.  I have informed one of the staff of the gym but after awhile they still doesn't wipe their sweat.

How To Add More RAM To Your Laptop

I had successfully changed the RAM that I bought last night with the correct Mhz and an additional 1 GB. Thanks to this YouTube video, I was able to detached the old RAM and added the new 2GB RAM on my laptop. Don't be scared though. It's just simple. My laptop now is super fast with 2.5GB memory.

Here by the way is the picture of the inside of my laptop:

COMEX 2009 Singapore PC Show

Last Thursday, the biggest IT Show in Singapore returned.  The biggest brands, newest technology and of course great bargains are all in the COMEX 2009 PC Show.  On the first day of the PC show, my two officemates and I went.  I was really irritated in the past weeks since my laptop is running very slow especially when I do multi-task (that is the purpose of a notebook, right?)

My laptop which is an Acer Aspire 4720 is only running in a 1GB RAM.  I have decided to buy 1GB more to double the speed.  Anyway, I was only informed by my officemate about the IT show that day so I didn't have the time to check the specifications of my laptop's RAM.  Because of that, I asked the help of the Internet.  I even asked the help of my officemate to make sure I am buying the right RAM.

COMEX 2009 Singapore PC Show cooling padAt Suntec where the COMEX 2009 is held, we went straight to the 6th Floor.  By the way, aside from the RAM I am also buying a cooling pad also for my laptop.  We spotted first the shop where the cooling pad was.  Since it is quite expensive (38 SGD), we have decided to go to the Kingston booth for my notebook's memory.  The 1GB only costs 28.50 SGD while the 2GB costs 51 SGD.  Affordable, right?  After I bought the RAM, we went to the Seagate booth for my officemate's external hard disk.  After that, we went back to the cooling pad booth.  It was amazing that we have managed to buy the cooling pad for only 29 SGD from 38 SGD.  Cool, right?

We then had our dinner at McDonald's.  I only ate the Mc Chicken Burger meal since I am on a diet.

When I arrived home, I saw that my laptop is 667 Mhz and not 533 Mhz.  I went back yesterday to Suntec to change it and also to make it 2GB.  Apparently, my existing RAM are two 512 MBs and there are only 2 slots.  So one 512 MB RAM has to go.

Noy Noy Aquino for President?

Noy Noy Aquino for President?
I think it was last week that Presidential aspirant Mar Roxas withdrew his candidacy to run as President in 2010. His move according to him was to unite the Liberal Party, which he is the President. He then gave way to his co-party Noy Noy Aquino to run as President.

I’m not sure whether to applaud Mar Roxas for giving way to Noy Noy Aquno but this move gave him more “pogi” points for the voters. I’m not sure though for the victory of Noy Noy Aquino. He doesn’t have the leadership quality to lead the country. And what has he done in the last 3 terms as a Congressman and his current term as a Senator? I did not even see him active in the Senate and in the Congress. Is he even ready? Being the son of Ninoy and Cory doesn’t mean that you can lead a country. And it doesn’t mean that Cory’s magic will work for you.

Will you vote for Noy Noy? Speaking of voting, I have missed the absentee voting registration here in Singapore. I think I have to go home in the 2010 elections just to vote. Sigh!

My Abs and My Low-Carb Diet

My Abs and My Low-Carb Diet
Last week, I have skipped writing about the status of my gym work out. So far, I have maintained my weight at 137.04 lbs. Last night, I went to the gym but I forgot to weigh myself. Then I forgot to weigh myself at home. Maybe tonight I can do so.

Anyway, I am still disappointed with my tummy. It’s still big and I have to do drastic changes to make my tummy smaller. Starting yesterday, I have trimmed down my rice intake and hopefully with more sit ups I will have a killer abs. It’s just upsetting me that the people at the gym have nice chest and abs. Wait another month and I will have that. Haha.

Aside from my food intake, I will now drink non-fat milk instead of fresh milk. Damn, non-fat milk tastes bad compared to fresh milk. And lastly, I will try to sleep early.

Good luck to me!

FYI, the photo in this post is not me (not yet). Hahaha.

Seoul Garden Singapore Experience

Seoul Garden Singapore ExperienceThis food experience happened a month ago I think. After we watched G.I. Joe at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, we have decided to eat at Seoul Garden at Takashimaya. We have planned to eat at Seoul Garden months ago but it never happened. Finally, we did.

Anyway, it is a bit costly to eat at Seoul Garden. At weekend’s dinner, each adult costs $21.99 with additional surcharges. I think I have spent around $35. This is an eat-all-you-can restaurant but with a different twist. You have to cook your own food with the attached stove in the table. That is a bit toxic for my friends and I.

The food ranges from raw beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, meat balls, pasta, ice cream, French fries, dimsum, noodles, seafoods and halo-halo like deserts. The food is overwhelming that we secretly transferred some of our food to the next table since there is a left over food charge. Haha.

Here are more of our photos at Seoul Garden.

Final Destination 3D Review

Final Destination 3D Review makoy
Last August 27, my two office buddies and I went to watch Final Destination in 3D at Lido Cineplex at Orchard. It was our first time to watch 3D and I very ecstatic with the sensation of 3D. It really feels close to you and it really moves. Final Destination though is not full 3D so I am still waiting for the full 3D experience. We plan to watch G-Force maybe next week.

Anyway, Final Destination 2009 is the fourth installment to the Final Destination franchise. It featured actors that don’t know how to act with their poor delivery of dialogues. Anyway, just like the last three franchise, the story is about a group of teens that escaped death. Death gets back to them one by one. They tried to find a solution to it but they all went dead.

The effects though are nice but a bit graphic with some flying body organs. In general, the movie is just okay for me. And I had fun with my 3D glasses. I can’t wait for G-Force!

How to Cancel Singtel’s Ring Back Tune

How to Cancel Singtel’s Ring Back Tune
Weeks ago, I have been informed by my officemates that I have a ring back tune. Apparently, Singtel gave me a free ring back tune without my consent. I have searched in the Internet and have discovered that many have suffered from this. By the way, my ring back tune was “Ako Ang Nagwagi” from a singer that I don’t know. I am using a Singtel Kabayan prepaid SIM that’s why my free Ring Back tune is an OPM song.

Anyway, thanks to Chona for sharing this tip on how to cancel Singtel’s Ring Back Tune:

1. Call *590 from your Singtel phone then select 6.
2. Select 1 to permanently cancel your Ring Back Tune account.

Please be advised that you ring back tune is only free for one month. After a month, Singtel will charge you without you knowing.

Wicked

Wicked poster
On my seventh edition of my Musical segment, I am featuring the untold story of the witches of Oz titled “Wicked.” Wicked is a Tony-Award winning musical that started its production on Broadway on October 30, 2003. The plot of the musical was based on the best selling novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire.

According to Wikipedia, “Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace. The plot is set mostly before Dorothy's arrival from Kansas, and includes several references to well-known scenes and dialogue in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as a backstory.”

Aside from 3 Tony Awards, Wicked also grabbed 6 Drama Desk Awards, 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 1 Grammy Award and more than 20 awards from other award giving bodies.

Wicked is a show for everybody. It appeals on all ages from its great music and visual effects.

Bed Bugs Bit Me

I am not sure whether it was Saturday or Sunday morning that I have notice that I have blisters on my arm.  It was three huge blisters with a big bump on my left arm.  Thank God, I wear longsleeves in the office and no ever noticed it.

Yesterday night after my gym session, I have decided to vacuum my bed so I would have a good night sleep. Before that by the way while I was taking a bath, I have noticed that I also have bite marks on my left shoulder and on my right leg.  Back to the vacuum...It was loud.  I just didn't mind my housemates with the lot of noise I have created.  And after vacuuming, I continued my noise by putting packaging tape on my balikbayan box.  Haha.  Nice right?

Anyway, I retired around 12 midight and I was so paranoid that after 10 minutes in my bed, I stopped using my quilt.  I haven't vacuumed it anyway since it's hard to vacuum.  I placed the quilt on my balikbayan box and reached for my old blanket at my dresser.  It was comfy!

At work today, I felt very weak and at the same time feverish.  As of writing this post, I am on my 37.6 Celcius temperature (normal but I feel hot inside) and my body is aching from the workout that I did yesterday.  I plan to drop by the gym by Thursday so my aching muscles can rest for a while.  I don't know if I will go to work tomorrow.  I hope I'll feel better.

And oh, my friends have told me to soak my mattress, pillows and beddings at direct sunlight.  Maybe I can do that over the weekend.  It has been raining cats and dogs in the past few days here in Singapore.  Gotta sleep now.

Bed bugs stay away from me, I'm not Sookie!  (with Southern accent)
