It has been raining here in Singapore for a couple of days and during this cold weather, I am craving for a hot "Goto". I have been asking my Filipino officemates in the office if there is a Pinoy restaurant here that sells goto. They all have been suggesting to try my luck in Lucky Plaza.
Anyway, my Filipino officemates and I are going out on next Saturday and have our dinner in Seoul Garden. I heard that it is buffet style but you're the one who's going to cook. Isn't that cool? I just hope that dinner is for real and just a plan. Before that dinner, my other officemate and I will go to Lucky Plaza to eat some goto. I hope we can find a goto or else I have no choice but to cook my own goto.

Chicken lovers out there beware. I have read an email this morning and the context of the email says that chicken wings are cancerous. Apparently, a woman developed a blood formation in her uterus and her doctor immediately asked if she likes to eat chicken wings.
According to that doctor, she got it from eating chicken wings. The doctor explained that some chicken are injected with steroids to make them fat. Those chicken are injected mostly in the wing and neck portion, which has the biggest concentration of steroids. Eating of course of chicken wings with injected steroids is deadly to humans.
Is this even true? I love eating chicken wings, they are very yummy!

Last week after our first day of Seminar at Microsoft Singapore in One Marina Boulevard, my friend and I went to Lau Pa Sat where the infamous Jollibee copy cat "Jolly V" is located. I have been hearing of this food stall for quite some time and I am happy that I have tried it.
By the way, you can reach Lau Pa Sat by alighting at Raffles MRT. Just follow the signage where Lau Pa Sat is. Aside from the stall in Lau Pa Sat, Jolly V has a new branch in Lucky Plaza in Orchard MRT.
I actually ordered for the Jolly Chicken and Spaghetti combo, which costs $6 (very expensive, lah!) and that doesn't include drinks. The food really looks like Jollibee and the spaghetti serving is good for two people. So what's the verdict? The chicken taste is close to Jollibee and is very delicious, but the spaghetti is a bit problematic for me. It tasted too sweet and there's something weird on it.
Aside from the Spaghetti and Chicken combo, they also have Kaldereta, Pizza, Burger, French Fries and Pancit Palabok. Quite expensive though compared to KFC and Mc Donald's.

I think it was my first week here in my new home and the owner of the house gave me a computer table so I can use it in my room. They bought the computer table in IKEA, my favorite store here in Singapore. Since in IKEA you bought items that are "Do It Yourself", I was obliged to build my own computer table.
In the package includes the wood pieces, screws and instructional guide on how to build the table. It was honestly a hard thing to do since I think it needs at least two people to build it. I think it took me 30 minutes to one hour before I finished building it. It looks good though and I build it on my own. Here are some of the pictures from my Do It Yourself Computer Table experience.

This is the best season yet of American Idol. The Season 8 top 4 finalists are all great and all were deserving to be the winner. The final two battled last night and from their performances it was clear that Adam Lambert did best based on performance and vocals. Kris Allen on the other hand gave his all out and his most personal rendition to the songs.
Anyway, you would be surprised on what I did today just to stay away with the results of the American Idol. Since here in Singapore and in the Philippines, American Idol is aired in the US by 8 A.M. (our time), people from the US or even those who are excited to know the results will immediately browse the Internet. Of course, there are THOSE people who can't stay quiet. I have experienced that before on previous American Idol seasons where someone would blurt out who wins and the excitement of watching it when you go home is totally gone.
Because of that, I did not went online until I finished watching the American Idol finale. I even turned off my two cellphones and email because my officemates threatened to send who is the winner. I even stopped listening to Monster Radio RX 93.1 since I know they will announce the winner on their news. So maybe you are wondering why I'm not online the whole day, that's the reason why.
By 8:30 P.M., I started watching the 1 hour 40 minutes American Idol Season 8 finale. Thank you to the wonders of the Internet, I don't have to wait for the 10 P.M. American Idol finale primetime telecast here in Singapore. The finale is magical and full of performances with great artists. This is my favorite finale ever. From the Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper, David Cook, KISS, Keith Urban, Santana and Rod Steward, the two-hour finale is jammed packed.
Congratulations to Kris Allen, you deserve it!

Seconds hours so many days
You know what you want but how long can you wait
Every moment last forever if you feel you’ve lost your way
What if your chances are already gone
Started believing that I could be wrong
But you give me one good reason
to fight and never walk away
Coz hear I am — still holding on!
Every step you climb another mountain
Every breathe its harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain (or through all your aches and pains)
Weather the hurricane
To get to that one thing
When you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you’ve almost gave up on your dreams
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can
You can go higher
You can go deeper
There are no boundaries
Above and beneath you
B-reak every rule coz there’s nothing between you
and your dreams
Every step you climb another mountain
Every breathe its harder to believe

Two more days to go and the number one show in the world will announce its new American Idol. Kris Allen and Adam Lambert are the remaining finalists of Season 8 and from the votes casted last week, it looks like anyone from the two can win the coveted Pop Idol title. They will join the American Idol alumni winners Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino, David Cook and Jordin Sparks.
My bet for this season is Kris Allen. I also like Adam Lambert but I think he is over rated. It is not all about hitting the high notes. I can see him with a pop-rock album just like Kelly Clarkson.
I will post the video performances of the two finalists tomorrow. As usual they will be singing three songs each. One song from their past performance, a new song created for them (co-written by Kara DioGuardi) and the song choice from American Idol creator Simon Fuller.
So who do you think should win this year?

Last two weeks, while I was doing my grocery shopping at NTUC Fair Price, I saw this big crab on the wet section of NTUC. It has been a long time since I had a crab. I can't even remember the date. The usual seafood I usually eat here in Singapore is just the prawn, which I love to cook in Tamarind Soup (Sinigang na Hipon). And it's very easy to cook. Does this post make you hungry? Hahaha.
Anyway, I was supposed to write this last week, but my laziness hinder me from doing it. Thanks by the way to the help of my lady friends (Ate Lorena and Sheila) who helped me with the instructions on how to cook this one. By the way, if you're buying a crab and would not immediately cook it, put it in a pan without water then just let it steam until it turns to orange. Store it in your refrigerator and not in your freezer.
Here are the ingredients:
* crab
* coconut milk
* salt and pepper
* Maggi Magic Sarap or Ginisa Mix
* long beans (sitaw)
* squash
* chopped garlic and onion
Instructions:
1. On a bowl, mix the coconut milk, garlic, onion, ginisa mix and the long beans. Add more salt and pepper depending on your taste.
2. Add the crab then mix.
3. Put on a low fire then cover. Make sure not to mix. It usually makes a foam so don't worry it's natural.
4. You're alimango sa gata is ready when you see oil coming out of the coconut milk.
Serve with hot rice and I recommend to use your hands to eat :) Yummy!

I have heard from someone that apparently the new TV commercial of LBC is becoming controversial even reaching the politicians. In the three versions of the LBC commercials, TV host and actor Edu Manzano hosts a spelling bee contest wherein he ask for the spelling of "REMITTANCE", "INSTANT" and "AFFORDABLE." All of the kids spelled "LBC" instead.
Here are the three versions of the said commercials.
I must admit that is a very clever commercial. People are raging including MTRCB that kids might get confused of the real spelling of the three words. For me, nothing too controversial.

The sibling team Tammy and Victor are the newest winners of Amazing Race. Tammy and Victor are both lawyers and are now $1 million richer. They beat the teams of Cara & Jaime and Margie & Luke.
On the last leg of the race, the final three teams returned to US land in Maui, Hawaii from People's Republic of China. The mother and son team Marige & Luke was leading on that race until Tammy & Victor's team went ahead on the road block. It was a very frustrating road block for Luke for not solving the last two items of the road block. Jaime and Luke have helped each other on the end to solve the road block.
Cara & Jaime was the second team to arrive in the pit stop while Luke & Margie were the last team to arrive.

I just finished watching the primetime telecast of American Idol here in Singapore. Unfortunately, my new home uses Mio TV and I can only watch American Idol on the 10 P.M. time slot in Channel 5.
Anyway, the top 3 finalists performed two songs (one of their choice and the judges pick). Since there are four judges now, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson picked the song for Kris Allen, Paula Abdul picked the song for Danny Gokey and lastly Simon Cowell picked the song for Adam Lambert.
Danny Gokey was the first to perform followed by Kris Allen then Adam Lambert. For the judges' pick, Danny performed "Dance Little Sister", Kris performed Apologize by One Republic and Adam performed "One" by U2. On the first round, Adam Lambert was the most outstanding followed by Kris and lastly Danny.
Based on the performance tonight and from the past weeks, it would be tough one to predict who would make it in the finale. My favorites Adam Lambert and Kris Allen I think should be on the finale. It would be a big shocker if Adam Lambert won't be in the finale.

I'm officially 12 days in my new place and so far I am enjoying my full independence and my quiet time alone in my room. The Pinoy family I am staying with are very nice and very accomodating. I'm still adjusting though on the set-up with them since I am used on living with all working people.
Anyway, I just want to share this funny story with the two kids in the house. This happened on the first week of my stay here. It was dinner time and I think that was my first time to cook. I cooked Purefoods Corned Beef with many onions. After my cooking, I told the two kids to join me since there parents are still on their way home. By the way, they are 12 and 11 years old. I was quite surprised that the 11 year old girl in a cute tone asked me if what I cooked was "Corned Beef." Then she went to get her plate and scooped some rice in their rice cooker. After that, she called her older brother to join us.
She got some of the corned beef into her plate and started eating while his older brother was shy at first to get some of the corned beef. He ate first the chicken their mother cooked for them. Then when I offered to him my corned beef, he said he's going to finish his chicken first.
Thank God, I am not that hungry that time or else one can of Purefoods Corned Beef wouldn't be sufficient for us three. After that incident, I don't offer food to them. They are quite scary that they would finish my food and my budget. Haha.

I just finished having my lunch and I am so full. I woke up early today since the Tagalog mass in Novena Church is at 10:30 A.M. Before I left home, it was already raining and I was hoping that I would arrive on time.
I arrived in the Novena Church 10:45 A.M. and I am very lucky that the mass just started. The priest even said that one of the reader did not make it because he was afraid of the rain. He even jokingly said that he felt lazy this morning because of the rain.
As usual I was standing inside the church. After some minutes I transfered to the side where I sat. I saw these two Pinoy boys with their parents. The eldest I think is 4 or 5 years old while the young one is 2 0r 3 years old. They are very distracting since they are making a lot of noise and the youngest boy keeps on dropping his toy. My irritation to them turned to joy during the "peace with you" portion of the mass. The two boys kissed their parents and younger boy is on his way to kiss his older brother. He was very frustrated coz his older brother doesn't want to be kissed. I think he tried three to four times until he kissed his brother on the left cheek. That boy is so adorable.
After the mass, I called my Mother to greet her a Happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers!

Last Friday, my 3-day training finally ended. Studying is really draining and very stressful especially if you are doing some hands on and you can't do it right. The training was a good experience and from what I have heard we still need to practice using the software before going to the advance training. Let's just hope that would be very productive for me.
Anyway, my last post on all of my blogs was last Thursday and this is obviously because I am very tired. Hopefully, I can post more updates today or tomorrow.
Enjoy the weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there especially to my mom and to my sisters.

In the past three days, Martin Nievera's "Lupang Hinirang" incident have been a topic to most bloggers. I am honestly irritated that it's getting bigger each day and it's flooding my inbox from the PBS Yahoo Groups.
Anyway, when I first heard his rendition to the Philippines' National Anthem during the Pacquia-Hatton match, it sounded really nice. Some changes on the tone and phasing made the song more meaningful to me.
Wouldn't it be meaningful if we focus more on the bigger problems of our country and not this petty song rendition? Political ads, Swine flu, Corruption....
Just my thoughts.

Manny Pacquiao won last Sunday over Hatton in the boxing match of the year. What's disgusting on watching the delayed telecast was the flooding commercials and the political ads of those aspiring politicians. The honorable mention for that matter is Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro who is running for President in the 2010 election.

On my last vacation in the Philippines, I had a great time even it is only a three day vacation. I got to spend time with my family and most especially to the birthday girl, Sam, my niece. I will post some pictures and videos of her Birthday party in Jollibee tomorrow.
Anyway, on my way to Manila I was lucky that I was seated on the first row of the plane. Not only that seat have extra leg room, the first row is usually the first to be served with food. As usual, I had cup noodles and a canned soda since that it is cheapest. Hahaha. Since I have a new camera, I took that opportunity to take some pictures on the airplane view. I really enjoy capturing the clouds. It's so peaceful and serene. I even took a video of it. Will post that also in the coming days as well. Please visit my Photo Blog with my View From The Plane Pictures.
I did gain weight in the past two weeks. Darn, in this photo I still have cheek bones.

Last May 1, Labor Day, I have finally moved in to my new home in Yishun. Thanks to the help of my officemate (which I called him my best friend for the day), I was able to carry the load of things. Since I already dropped some of my things twice that week, I was only expecting two to three bags to carry but surprisingly, I have more than five bags. Our initial plan was just to ride the MRT but since I have tons of things, it was a must to ride a cab. What's more surprising is that the ride only cost less than 10 SGD. Not bad actually.
After fixing some of my things in my new room, I went out for lunch at Mc Donald's then went straight to Lucky Plaza in Orchard to send some money in the Philippines. After that, I went to IKEA in Queenstown MRT. I got even confused on what MRT to alight. At IKEA, I was able to buy a new bed sheet set, clothes rack, rug and some extension cords. I was drooling on the sheep skin but it was quite expensive. If I am not mistaken it is around 69 SGD. My last visit to IKEA, I was eyeing on that item. Darn, If only I have the budget.
After IKEA, I went back to my old place in Choa Chu Kang to fetch some of my remaining goods in the refrigerator. When I reached home in Yishun, I felt really exhausted.
My first day in my new home, wasn't that bad after all. I'm still adjusting and getting used to my new routine. More stories on my new home tomorrow.
The picture by the way was taken this morning. Haha...I look bloated. In short, I'm FAT!
