For the last part of my Broadway segment, I am featuring one of the longest running musical theatre in history, “Blood Brothers.” It started at the West End in 1983 and is still running after twenty years. “Blood Brothers” is the creation of Willy Russell, which is also the man behind the book, lyrics and the music.
Blood Brothers revolve around the story of fraternal twins that were separated at birth. The twins had different background and had different paths. One was a successful Oxbridge-graduated councilor and the other twin is unemployed and imprisoned. Both of them fell in love with the same girl but with tragic consequences.
Blood Brothers have received a lot of awards including the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical and numerous Tony Awards nominations.
