Absentee Voting Registration in Singapore

Absentee Voting Registration in SingaporeThe Philippine National Election is nearing every day. I have watched TV Patrol yesterday and I have learned that the COMELEC or the Commission on Elections is now preparing the automation of the elections. I just hope this will push through. The next election by the way is on May 2010.

Speaking of the elections, I have been seeing on the advertisements in TFC that the Philippine Embassy here in Singapore has started conducting the registration of the absentee voting for Filipinos residing in Singapore. Registration started last February 1st and will end on August 31, 2009. I’m still thinking though if I will register or not. I’m still unsure of my future here in Singapore.

If you are 18 at the time of the election, you may register if you intend to vote in Singapore. For more details, visit http://www.philippine-embassy.org.sg/

Hi Makoy, you should register .. and if you happen to leave Singapore before the elections I think you can just request for transfer of your registration..

Hey could you help me with my problem? I know you are a certified blogger.. Maybe you have an idea why my Pr dropped to zero and how could I earn it back. I have a post for it. Hope you could comment there. Thanks

I love how efficient Singapore is! No wonder the country is succesful.

As for our own absentee voting, even if our own election system suck big time, you should still do your duty as a citizen and vote if you can.

Nice blog and nice contest you have here :-)

Hopefully elections can change the things in the Philippines for the better. The sad thing is, we just spend for elections but the results? Are there even results at all?????

Well, if elections would be automated or electronic, I wonder what is the difference. Alll the process in the country is disgusting.... well, people pretending to be coy, shy, etc but what everyone needs is just a fad wad of bank bills and well.... those fake acts would vanish in one second. It's sad to think when your countrymen try to cheat you, or each other in any way possible. I hate it!

@Sherry,

I don't think online voting is advisable. Hackers will swarm like ants to have the election tampered at the payroll of some politicians.

The last time I registered was in 2005 or 2006.. That was chaotic and out of order as usual ...sigh.. hopefully it improves now.

@Dinah,

That is normal but success also comes from people themselves. Government is nothing without populace's cooperation.

@Sherry,

AT least voter's id is useful in Philippines.. Outside, it's either passport or driver's license or residence card would be the only ones that are valid.

Anyway, I just hope that elections would bring change... positive and pro-people changes in the Philippines. They always tell change, those politicians, but all I see is change for the WORSE!
