Today is Hari Raya Haji in Singapore

Posted on Monday, December 8, 2008

Today is Hari Raya Haji in SingaporeI woke up today past 11 A.M. already since it is a public holiday here in Singapore. Our aircon hasn't been fixed yet and I'm glad that it is raining until now. I had a good night sleep because of the cold weather. It's just frustrating that the aircon would be fixed this Wednesday. I just hope until Wednesday it is raining.

Now back to the holiday. Today is Hari Raya Haji also called Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice. According to Wikipedia, "Hari Raya Haji is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims and Druze worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God." It is very similar to the story of Abraham in the bible wherein God ordered to sacrifice his son. Because of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son for God, God ordered to sacrifice a lamb instead of his son.

Anyway, today is also the Immaculate Concepcion. I might go to mass tonight. My plan today is to study ASP.Net and to watch some movies in my laptop. I just hope I can study with this cold weather.
