All Souls Day in Singapore

All Souls Day in SingaporeThe other day, I wrote about what happened to me during All Saints Day. I have mentioned in that post that I noticed that Singaporean don’t celebrate All Saints Day. Would you believe it is not even a holiday here? Anyway, yesterday we went to the mass at the Church of St. Mary of the Angels in Bukit Batok. We noticed that there are candles for sale near the entrance of the church. We ignored it and just went inside the church. We were quite early for the 5:30 mass so I snoozed for a while.

My roommate who is with me at that time was very amazed with the church. She wants to take pictures but she eventually got shy because of the large volume of people. It was a different mass compared to my last week’s visit. It was a different priest and friars are assisting him with the mass. The mass was about the celebration of the All Souls Day. Singaporeans do celebrate this day though.

After the mass, the priest thanked all of us and signaled the start of the procession at the columbarium. Too bad I forgot to take some pictures of them. We have decided to go home instead and went to the West Mall in Bukit Batok. We end dining at MOS Burger and shopping at the grocery at the basement. I bought some toiletries, milk and breakfast cereal.

I hope you visited your parted loved ones. Happy All Souls Day everyone!
