Tilapia Fish Bad For The Heart

Tilapia Fish Bad For The HeartI have read this article in a magazine when we visited Malaysia a month ago. Anyway,
according to the article the Tilapia fish, which I love to eat, is bad for the heart. A new study by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (Chilton et al, 2008) suggests that eating a Tilapia fish is worse than eating a bacon or a hamburger.

This is because a Tilapia fish has high level of Omega 6 fatty acids and arachidonic acid. Tilapia are raised on fish farms. They were fed with a corn-based feeds that contain the above mentioned substance. The tilapia fish stores the Omega 6 fatty acids and arachidonic acid on their tissues and are ready to be feasted by the health conscious humans.

Eating an inexpensive tilapia according to their studies will result to a smaller coronary artery, which is the major risk factor of a heart attack.

Would you still want to eat a tilapia?

Yes I will still tilapia that is wild caught. Any seafood that are raise in the farm is not good for you. Always buy wild caught seafood in my opinion.

i guess we're lucky we don't get to buy fish in this place that often. and since they have tilapia here, that's what i buy most of the time :P i guess 5pcs. of tilapia a month won't kill us.

Nedekcir is CORRECT! The real truth is: the Tilapia fish were fed with genetically modified food. They eat the very same thing that cows were force-fed with - CORN (the same genetically-modified food).

Cows now live 3 or 4 years because they are removed from their natural diet of grass. It explains a lot of how cows got the "mad cows' disease"! (Scientists try to "play God"!)

The Tilapia (fish) DON'T NEED to be fed with omega 3 oils to have Omega 3 oils. It's naturally occuring in them.

The media (news) do amazing things to give you smoke and mirrors - to keep the truth from you.

You can still get eat the Tilapia and be healthy, although organic salmon would be a much better choice.

Again, you do not want to eat Salmon from polluted waters where fish are drowning in fcatory toxic. All the fault of....men!

What? It's just my first time to learn that tilapia fish is bad for the heart. Is it the same if the fish are from the Philippines?

It actually depends on what they feed the tilapia fish.

So it would be better to avoid tilapia for now at least for me.

i think i have read this somewhere, i guess it would not be that bad if you eat once in a while. too much of everything is really bad for our health

organic tilapia is very healthy.. and yeah, like any other fish, they produce omega 3 oils like what is mentioned above.. it really depends on how the fish was cultivated..

hmm, I still love tilapia even if they are not good for our hearts.I think, if we eat once in a while, it is still safe and wont hurt us.
